Q: Why should I mulch?

A: Not only does mulch add a cosmetic look that improves the property’s appearance, it also provides many benefits to the homeowner such as retaining moisture to feed your plants and trees while cutting down the time you spend watering.  Also, mulch from Maple 85 also helps inhibit weed growth, stops soil erosion, and can even improve the soil’s structure as the mulch breaks down. Having a mulch barrier will protect your trees and shrubs by limiting damage from trimmers and lawn mowers.

Q: How much mulch do I need to get?

A: You have to figure that one yard of mulch will cover about 100 square feet when going three inches deep.

Q: Are the different types of mulch bug resistant?

A: Yes! Mulch is bug resistant. Most all mulch on the market today helps cut bedding insect’s chances of nesting because there isn’t any live foliage or plant matter to use as nesting material.

Q: What about termites?

A: A thin layer (1 inch deep) will help the ground dry naturally and deter termites from nesting close enough to your home to be a problem.

Q : How long will the mulch last if I use it as recommend by Maple 85?

A: Depending on the quality purchased, it can last up to 5 years, although, every spring it’s recommended to mix the mulch from the bottom and add more to revitalize the color and help air the bottom layer.

Q: How much will it cost to have Maple 85 deliver my load of mulch?

A: Delivery charges: $45.00

Q: How do I stop my mulch from being wind-blown?

A: It’s simply a matter of adding a little more mulch to make it deeper. That will stop it from being wind-blown.

Q: Will Walnut Mulch kill my plants?

A: No, there is no reason to believe that Walnut mulch will have any detrimental effects on any of your plants.

Q: Is colored mulch harmful to my pets?

A: No, the colorant used is safe for pets.

Q: How long will colored mulch last without looking faded and old?

A: Colored mulch should be replaced every 2-3 years to maintain that fresh look. You can add some new mulch to your bed every year to help keep it look its best.

Q: Does the mulch I put in my garden or around my trees and shrubs break down? And, if so, will it be OK for the environment?

A: In time, organic mulch from Maple 85 will break down, but it is friendly to the environment because it is from natural materials and decomposes as it would in nature.

Q: How deep should mulch be?

A: It is usually recommended that you go at least 2 inches deep, but the deeper you go the longer it will last.

Q: Does Maple 85 change product lines or will they keep the same mulch, gardening, and landscaping supplies?

A: We keep all of our products through the season so you will be able to find the products you used at the beginning of the season.

Q: Does Maple 85 rent gardening equipment so I don’t have the expense of buying loaders or haulers that I’m only going to use once or twice a season?

A: Renting equipment to our customers is one of the main things that Maple 85 takes pride in. We agree that it’s foolish to spend several hundred dollars on equipment that you only will use once or twice a year. That’s why we take the extra steps to ensure you have what you need when you need it.

RENTAL CHARGES

Q: When I rent from Maple 85, how long can I keep the equipment?

A: Equipment is rented in increments of 3, ,4, or 24 hours. The prices vary on what type of equipment that you rent. Please contact the office at (402) 397-8278 for any questions you many have on rentals.

Q: What about overnight charges?

A: Prices on equipment vary depending on the machine and attachments rented. The time the equipment was rented determines if they can keep the machine overnight.
